Poetry by Tan Beng-Jin
Tan Beng-Jin,
known to friends as A-Jin, was born in rural Chiong-Hoa in 1954. He turned to
writing poetry in his native Holo-Taiwanese in the late Eighties, and has since
expanded his works to include a couple volumes of short stories and prose. Previously
he had written a number of screenplays as well as poems in Mandarin. Today A-Jin
is widely regarded as a preeminent writer in the Taiwanese Vernacular Movement.
The poems featured below are from A-Jin's 1995 poetry
collections Liulong Kisu (Journal of Wandering) and Si-jin
Ekau (The Poet is Mute). They are read by the author himself. To

Po.
