A song about the beauty of the West. It says: 'I will never forget the West. Even if I'll travel around the whole world.' For many and many years we used to sing this song on the islands of the Dutch West Indies. |

During Sorghum harvest time in Bonaire the Kunuku (farm)-owners, with the help of neighbors, friends and relatives, harvest the ripe and dry sorghum. To reward all this help and to celebrate the good harvest, a Simadan is set up at the Kunuku. It consists of dance, music, food, and abundant high spirits. Simadan has many traditional songs, all of which are sung in call-and-response form. The most popular is: Remailo. |
