Piece #1 of MŽmoires du Weimar Avant Mes Yeux, a group of seven songs. "Culture" is all instrumental and defined by musical counterpoint, where one melody enters, then another and consequently three more, which return at various points in the song, and at the end all melodies play at once...at first it might sound cacophonous but it will make sense as one listens a few times. We hope. |

Song #7 of MŽmoires du Weimar Avant Mes Yeux. Is based on counterpoint, where one melody enters and then another, and at the end of the song all melodies play simultaneously. Most of the song is based upon an ostinato pattern derived from one of the melodies. The title reflects a current preoccupation last seen especially in Jacobin France and Weimar Germany. Yikes. |
