Artist description
Vapor Child are filed variously in Downtempo, Electronica, and Indie Rock because their debut recording defies categorization. The Alien Days EP is by turns pulsing trip-hop, string- and turntable-laden psychedelia, proto-industrial new wave, and plaintive guitar lament. The unifying elements to the record are its consistent melodicism and propulsiveness, highlighted by gorgeously bleak vocals and insistent, groove-oriented drumming. The Alien Days EP is a therapy record - a journey through the midst of the painful demise of a very long and wonderful relationship. From the stark beauty of Alien Days to the lush orchestration of Silver, each song is a distinct and cinematic sonic experience. There is a lot to discover here - use headphones if you can, and make sure to listen to the words. |

Press Reviews
" ... this isn't normally the kind of stuff I listen to, but damn these guys are good. Trip hop is the idea, but it comes out more like alternative. That's okay though, it's quality material.""This EP is rich and full of heart. I'm not one for "Goth", but this has won me over. It's almost more rock and roll than anything else. The Alien Days EP gives you a glimpse into some pretty deep emotions without taking you to the bottom ... where this stuff obviously comes from ... I couldn't like it any more than I do.""This is one of those albums you don't want to miss hearing. It's hard to descibe how gripping Vapor Child is when you listen to it.""Very odd, quite infectious, top quality. Headphone factor: 8." |
