Artist description
Full on guitar rock with power and finesse. Memorable of Hum in their time.
Maybe even early Pumpkins in theirs. Definitely polished and in your face, all at once.
A must see for fans of Q.O.T.S.A. or Hum or Chavez or Foo Fighters. |

Artist History
This band started in Dec. '99 out of pure boredom. We had all been in previous bands.(Garden of Nocturne, Oscar Trip, Nov. 27) So, we knew what it took, just needed the inspiration. Along came a book by Robert Temple entitled 'The Sirius Mystery'. This book fueled songwriting fury for Steve Johnson. Scotty P. used to play drums in this band, but fortunately for us, Craig B. was out of work.(Sorry Scotty!) Instantly adding an attack that only 'the' James Lo of Chavez or Dale Crover would be proud of! Things just started clicking for us and haven't stopped since. We all enjoy playing and writing new material that is fresh and inspiring. Live, we are a sonic assault on the senses. So, come prepared. Pre-baked if you will.

Press Reviews
Psychedelic Stoner Rockers Anubis Field has a sound that isn't anything too terribly new, but it does have some unique approaches and lots of different influences. It's full of pop hooks and hard rock grooves and definitely isn't average compared to the tons of stoner rock bands out there.
At first the guitar approach reminded me a bit of Smashing Pumpkins, but as the CD went on, I hear all sorts of similarities to other bands, like Husker Du or Replacements... Has a lot of indie rock influence I am guessing.
Musically 'Set the Tone' is very consistent throughout, meaning they have their own formula for song writing. It's definitely pop influenced and I could easily hear a couple of these songs being similar to what they play on the hard rock/alternative radio station. There are a tone of good hooks, catchy choruses and decent melodic vocals. Overdriven guitars back to back with clean simple chord arrangements and a few simple leads that are more painted into the music rather than right in front 'look at me, I can play a guitar solo' if you know what I mean.
I think the closest thing I can compare this to musically is Dinosaur Jr. minus the nasal whiny vocals...these vocals are more melodic and stand out. Get this one if you are into hard rock with an indie twist.
