Artist description
Originally from Vermont, 29 year old Peter Duncan has studied various styles of bass playing in the past 18 years. His influences are all the great players of rock, jazz, funk, fusion, and other popular music (too many names to list), but isn't ashamed to note that it was John Taylor of Duran Duran that originally inspired him to mow lawns for one hot NJ summer to purchase his first bass guitar, a Fender Squier Precision bass when he was 11. He holds a BS degree in Biochemistry from the University of Vermont. Currently, Peter finds himself assisting bands with their production, and engineering needs, and has performed extensively on bass guitar with local NYC acts Philosopher Stone, and the Josh Dodes Band. His production and engineering efforts have been positively reviewed in publications such as Keyboard Magazine, and the Village Voice, and his efforts have enabled the Josh Dodes Band to attract serious label attention from both RCA (Peter Robinson) and Capitol records. Venues he has played include Wetlands Preserve (NYC), The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (DC), and the infamous Bitter End (NYC). In addition to music, Peter enjoys skiing, mountain biking, Vermont, the Adirondacks of Upstate New York, and Lake Champlain...he hates liberal democrats, rock stars that can't handle their success, Route 1 traffic in NJ, and most vegetables. Other related skills that Peter holds are an extensive knowledge of current musical technology, including audio processing/editing using the latest DAW's (Cakewalk, Cubase VST, Pro Tools), MIDI programming, as well as HTML multimedia website design. Peter uses Zon Sonus V 5-string basses exclusively and Eden Electronics amplification. |

Press Reviews
"Now that's Rock and Roll"-Village Voice"Good time rock and roll - a dash of New Orleans, a spritz of Bruce Hornsby... Dodes anchors on piano, and the bass and drums are as real as the excitement. The focus is on Dodes's high-energy bluesy singing, not instrumental solos, but it's always great to hear a band where the keys make a difference." - Keyboard Magazine. August 1999 |
