Artist History
Moroccan-born Levyatan grew up in Israel, where he studied and taught music, before moving to Paris where he wrote music for MCA Publishing and worked with the French Labels. A gifted singer, arranger and musician (guitars, piano, synthesizer, bas, drums), he continued to teach music while playing jazz with some of the top musicians in France. The young troubador also formed his own rock-soul quartet in Paris in the early 1980s, called the Rail, which was very well received. His journey then continued to the USA, where he formed the Mesila band in San Francisco in the late 1980s, recording at Fantasy Studios.Exploring the kabbalah of his own tradition, Levyatan's musical compositions reflect his own spiritual searching and combine the varied musical elements he has encountered along the way. He recorded and released a popular album of original Hebrew songs, world music, and played for several years with the Los Angeles rock band Providence.Levyatan, a fusion of hip-hop, with rock and Moroccan trance, is a journey into the Mystic Heart, with songs of love and hope like To Be and Trust. It says, "Faith is what makes you free, no matter where you fall". Share the journey and the vision. Give a listen to Levyatan. |

Press Reviews
A unique artist by anybody's standards, LevYatan delivers a mix of psychedelic rock riffs and brooding, mysterious lyrics that drove us crazy wondering where we'd heard it all before, this especially true with Wise Eyes and Mysteries Wooven comes off like a dead ringer for a seductive Led Zeppelin acoustic number, blessed with a singing voice that records well. - Music Connection 4/26/99 |
