Artist description Violinist Lev Gelbard was born in Moscow and graduated from the Moscow Central Music School and Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He was many years with the chamber orchestra MOSCOW VIRTUOSI under Vladimir Spivakov. Now Lev Gelbard lives in Germany and gives concerts in Europe as soloist with orchestras and as a member of chamber-music groups. His principal partner is German-resident Russian pianist Elena Kuschnerova.

Instruments Lev Gelbard plays a violin made by Alessandro Galiano at the beginning of the 18th century. Galiano worked with Stradivari in Cremona for some time, then he moved to Napoli.
