Artist History
Performing regularly for enthusiastic audiences at New York City venues such as Metronome, Redeye Grill, Lola, Torch, The Bubble Lounge, & Blue Water Grill, EMPIRE STATE RADIO WITH RHE DE VILLE "keeps the mood as dreamy as an opium den with their Post-Bop take on Cool Jazz". Rhe De Ville is a 'screen siren vocalist' whose lush, highly stylized sound has been likened to Helen Merrill, Marlene Dietrich, and Sarah Vaughan. She is quickly gaining recognition from listeners all over the world, noting her uniqu e voice with a style all its own: one that is equally familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. EMPIRE STATE RADIO naturally evolved from the successful performance duo of torch singer De Ville and pianist Felipe Riveros. During the last few months of 19 9 9, they found themselves a magnet for a family of musicians, including bassists Jonathan Flaugher, Daniel Fabricatore, and Bob Bowen; saxophonist Michael Dopazo, and acclaimed drummer-percussionist-tabla player Danny Weiss. Most recently, jazz guitarist Miles Okazaki and vibes player-arranger Mark Sherman have joined EMPIRE STATE RADIO, adding their experience, expertise and variety to the ensemble. |

Press Reviews
"Ultracool penthouse jazz that navigates the waters where camp and honest emotion meet. Rhe De Ville is a sexy, low key vocalist. Highly stylized, her sound is closer to a foreign Helen Merrill or Marlene Dietrich than to Julie London. Empire State Radio keeps the mood as dreamy as an opium den with their Post Bop take on Cool jazz." - listen.com review. "...elegantly blending a seducing combination of Jazz, Lounge, spicy Swing, Glamour and Romance." - Time Out NY "....a sensual, passionate, 'Damsel in this-Dress!', Rhe De Ville has a voice like no other: On or Off Broadway." "...a presence, with charisma reminiscent of days when subtle sensuality was an art form." "Do you best to try and describe THIS gal!" |
