Artist description
Impossible to categorise this Welsh born, Zimbabwe raised, British Composer has been at the leading edge of contemporary music for some 30 years. Albert Alan Owen also studied in Paris with the legendary teacher Nadia Boulanger: she called him 'gifted and inspired'. With his seminal, ground-breaking, genre-defying work 'Mysteries' (1973), he created a new sound in music that was both a critical and commercial success when it was recorded in 1979. Following on from this came the highly acclaimed album 'Following The Light' in 1982. This work established him as one of the finest and most original composers of his generation. His reputation was confirmed by the invitation to write and arrange the Grande Finale for the Royal Gala Concert at Wembley (London) to mark the arrival of Halley's Comet. A steadfast refusal to allow himself to be associated with any one type of music has led A.A.Owen to work freely in many different contexts - records, film and the concert hall (many of the major venues in the UK). Now living in the hills of his beloved Wales he continues to create and record his unique music at his own state-of-the-art facility - Techno Arts Productions. 'Voyager' - his most recent CD - was released on the Vigiesse (Rome) label at MIDEM'98 in Cannes. |
