Artist History Lori Black grew up on a farm in Wisconsin,listening to the only music that played on her radio,Country Western. Always interested in singing,Lori moved to California to pursue a career in entertainment.Her start in the business was as a professional print and runway model.This work quickly led to acting roles and to this date,Lori has been featured in countless movies and television programs such as 'Enemy of the State', 'Chicago Hope','ER','Melrose Place'and 'City of Angels'. During this time,Lori embarked on a few recording projects,but every producer tried to steer her away from singing the music she grew up on and loved...Country. This would make her the first African American female in the genre and many people,for various reasons, were not ready to deal with this. Enter Les July,visionary artist/producer who not only embraced the idea of producing the first Black female of Country,but immediately wrote her first single,"R U Ready ?",to cleverly address the issue in lyrical and musical terms.Having worked with country innovator,k.d. Lang, Les has seen a variety of styles fuse with country music to bring it the mass appeal that it has today. It's now called "New Country" because the times and the music is changing. Artists like k.d.,Wynonna,Shania and Dixie Chicks are paving the way and opening doors for Lori Black. Are you ready ?
