LIVE REVIEW: NORTHEAST PERFORMER, DECEMBER 1999 Driving through a set of non-stop guitar rock/pop smash 'n' roll, Long Distance Runner clobbered this night's audience with their toughest tunes executed to the tighest degree. Frontman/guitarist Matt Squire came off nothing short of fantabulous. Frenetically rocking back and forth between vocal cues and adrenaline-laced power chords, Squire played a double role as both the energy bringer and the mouthpiece for the band. And he didn't miss a pitch. LDR launched into "Wire" and "Freedom Rise" -both from their recent EP- with volitile disclosure while guitarist Colin Beauchemin jabbed out internally jarring chords that had the house rifling through their pockets for earplugs. And by the time LDR closed with "Access Denied," the audience had just about packed up to the edge of the stage, proving once again that if the rock is good, they will come - no matter how loud it may be. -Alan Levesque- TT The Bears Place, October 22, 1999. |
