Artist History At the age of 5 Jason was introduced to the Suzuki Program at the McPhail Center for The Arts for violin. As he grew, so did his love for the power of music. He was awarded a full scholarship to ASU. But as fate would have it, he decided to attend UND to be a little closer to his family. In his freshman year he was introduced to the people that would forever change his focus. Jason was now a classical musician crossing over into rock. Sticking to his guns, he perused rock with a blind abandon. It didn't really matter that his experience with rock was nominal; he quickly joined local cover bands to hone his chops. He was greeted with acceptance right away. It's not often you see a violin played in rock with the conviction of Eddie Van Halen. Also, a good sax player and singer, his chops didn't take long to develop. After a few years of paying dues (i.e. bad demos, lost money, red neck bars) He made up his mind to move to a better music scene. Minneapolis. As soon as he arrived, he assembled a band of some of the best young Minneapolis musicians. They quickly dropped all the previous material and a band effort was formed. After 4 years of hard work and empty pockets, Jason and company parted ways. Much wiser and more assertive, Jason went to New York City to work with esteemed producer Rob Arthur. A demo of some old material and new material was assembled. The new and improved Jason Perri was born. Shortly after the demo with Arthur was completed, Jason contacted Matt Kirkwold (from his old band in Mpls) to start writing again. After a few showcases for record labels and more money spent. Jason and Matt chose to build there own studio and develop there own sound. With time and experience added to their own good musicianship, a new sound is born between them. A sound that has been trying to get out for over ten years. That sound has finally found it way out of there hearts and into yours.
