Artist History "Hogan's Goat is at the forefront of a genre of music which incorporates the roots of country with the passionate force of rock and roll." In the beginning there was country music, as it mixed with other styles of music it became rock and roll. The circle is now unbroken as rock and roll once again embraces country music as its own. Call it No Depression or AlternaCountry or Punkabilly or Insurgent Country,the name doesn't matter, in the end it is music with passion and roots. Hogan's Goat is a band that has been carving its own path through this musical genre now considered one of the cutting edges of rock and roll. Hogan's Goat started out in 1994,as a project put together by Jim Tillilie,his roomate, and drummer Andy Shahan.They were performing a full set of original songs after only having been together a month. This trio released their debut album Don't Play With your Food in 1995. A rock/country hybrid that garnered heavy local radio airplay and helped solidify their growing legion of fans. This was followed in 1997 with Full On Country a limited edition cassette which sold out almost as quickly as it was released. Prolific songwriters,the band recorded over fifty songs which it culled down to the twelve that make up Good Intention Road. From the tale of dust bowl desperation that is "Culver County", to the care free driving song "66' Olds", to the alcohol drenched regret of "Whiskey", this album is full of the hooks that run through your head for days even after only just one listen. Hogan's Goat continues to play shows to much positive acclaim,opening for bands like Dash Rip Rock,former Replacement Slim Dunlap,Jack Logan,The Honeydogs,and Charlie Chesterman as well as headlining their own shows in places like Philadelphia,Richmond,Pittsburgh,and Alexandria. Their reputation for blistering live performances increases their avid following with each show.
