Artist History
Blown Vinyl is the latest incarnation of core band member Geoff Warren. This 32 year old composer/musician/producer has been writing and recording music for over 10 years.Whilst at school in the mid 80's Geoff played guitar in a 2 piece band called "Emergency Exit".Later, whilst studying for a degree at Bradford University, he continued to compose and record solo material on a 4 track, eventually playing keyboards and samplers in a 5 piece progressive rock band called "Arise" and producing their album "Aquaspheric", in 92-93.He has been composing, playing and recording songs in the home studio, with various musicians since 94, combining midi sequences on an Atari, and later a PC, with guitar overdubs on a 4-track.As hard disk recording technology improved and the Internet began offering new ways of exposing music, Geoff linked up with guitarist Tim Flowers, an old friend from University, and singer Kate Foster.Working under the name "Blown Vinyl" since 98 this trio have recorded a diverse mixture of song styles from indie-angst to funk-rock-dance-reggae and the beginning of the year 2000 saw the release of their 10 track CD entitled "Pastimes", the title track of which received a nomination for best track in the jazz/funk/hip-hop category of bt's getoutthere live awards, late last year. "Pastimes" also appeared a few months later on a free MixMag cover CD featuring the best of Internet music.Located in Leeds, Blown Vinyl are currently working on a second album and are planning to put a live set together before the year is out. |
