Artist description
Heavy Blues Influenced Hardcore. Extremely! Ultrafuge has brought a new style to Kansas City that remains to this day, difficult to categorize or compare. The closest term that I have been able to come up with is "Groove-Core" Very heavy, yet melodic. The grooves are just way too catchy to not move around while listening. |

Artist History
Ultrafuge is a four-piece hardcore band from Independence, MO that has been together for 3 years now. Previously bassist Nathan Hockman, guitarist Nick Grazier, and drummer David Thomas were founders of the bands 32 ton Churchill and Driveshaft.Vocalist Thad Carson joined the band in 1997 after returning to K.C. from Portland, Oregon, where he was part of 2 bands Bent and Juggernaut.David Thomas was later replaced by Hawgwarsh drummer Kristian Ball. Kristian has brought with him a brutal drumming style that will accentuate the already intensely heavy sound of Ultrafuge.Ultrafuge has since released 4 recordings over the last three years including a 5 song E.P. and a 2 song single that are currently featured on various compilations both locally and nationally. They have recently finished a full length CD on Enrichment Records / Lichen Music - Roil Noise entitled "The Wake".Ultrafuge is known for their intensely passionate and chaotic live show that impressively showcases thier dark, blues-tinged sound. Ultrafuge thanks all their fans for their die-hard support over the last 2 years. Special thanks go to Graves (and all of Ultrafuge's roadies), and the Clark family for all their help.Ultrafuge would also like to thank:Kingpin Tattoo'sMusic Go Round (Shawnee)Yahweh's CoffeeAndrew P. from Davey's Uptown Ramblers ClubLance & Crew from StresspointHawgwarshCanvasRoil Noise |

Press Reviews
Pitch Weekly writes:Pumped with excitement over the release of The Wake, its debut CD, Ultrafuge closed out the night with a powerful set of its heavy, punk influenced rock with distorted guitar, thundering rhythms to rival bands such as Limp Bizkit and Rage Against the Machine, and often-screamed, effects-soaked vocals that pounded emphasis into every syllable. Many in the crowd seemed deeply affected by Ultrafuge's music, often pogoing with defiant fists in the air. When Ultrafuge ended its set, the crowd protested loudly. For an encore, the band appropriately chose a rocking song called "Over and Out." |
