Artist description
There is a powerful innate energy in all of us. An entity that possesses the power to overcome all obstacles and struggles. A being that can only be attained by reaching back into the shadows of our past and tapping into it. This is the basis for the existence of THROE. Throe is not a movement, a statement or a fad, but an indescribably powerful force, not to be taken lightly. With a pure and true combination of the harshest hardcore, the smoothest rap grooves, balanced with funk, blues etc., throe exceeds the boundaries of music and creates a realm where sound embodies the most powerful of forces... feeling. Throe uses Music to bring listeners to a level of energy and emotion they perhaps never knew existed within them. Throe creates a nasty, high octane, energetic and emotion-induced blast of sound fated to leave a scar on the face of the music industry. |

Artist History
Throe was born in 1996. After a few years, THROE had a few roster changes. THROE hooked up with a new drummer and DJ both from separate bands, and more recently picked up an additional guitarist. Over the past two years THROE has matured and began exploring new sounds, evolving from the harsh hardcore roots, but never losing touch with it's tough, gritty East coast energy. Throe was born into the Boston music world with it's 2000 release "Voice of Reason". The debut CD got brilliant reviews and got both college and local air-play. In 2001, Throe has been working on their newest effort, UPROOT, due out this summer/fall. Throe has released three tracks to promote the upcoming full-length release. "strandz", "left infected" and "mirror image" all represent the newest sounds that will shape the Boston scene in the immediate future.

Press Reviews
"Throe is a dark rap/metal/groove band whose influences include... Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool, DMX, and Korn... Hard, crunchy wall of guitars, big pounding drums, in yer face Rage vocal rants... what's wrong with this disc?? Absolutely nothing. From the intro of "Nothing" to the relentless slam of "Head in the Sand," Throe gives it up in a no-holds-barred, balls-to-the-wall fashion. They sound sincere and believe in what they say and do."
- Joel Simches, The Noise, April 2000
"Every decade has its own group of artists, influential artists that are written down in history for creating some new revolutionary sound... How about a little blues type groove, blended with a few hip-hop beats, and then a bit of the nastiest hardcore rock sound. Sound a little mysterious? Well don't worry, if you don't know them now, you will soon enough."
"...What you haven't heard, is this much talent for blending and creating a style of music that is both representative of the times and influential to the future. They've been called the Pink Floyds of rapcore, and their songs flow deeper than the deepest of Miles Davis' blues and rock harder than the harshest rage of Rage Against the Machine."
"So what's so special about this group, other than their amazing talent? How about standing with 400 people. The music's mellow and trippy, and you're slowly moving your head along with others, to this harmonious beat. But you can feel it building up, you can feel the energy starting to burn. And you reach that point, and out comes the nastiest hardcore sound. And you look around, and the audience is going crazy. If they're not moshing, then they're being moshed on. And you look up and there's Throe, causing all this commotion and eating up every bit."
- Michelle Hunter, Insite Magazine, January 2000
