The EP also sold out at Amazon.com in its first week.

Stimulant began with a handful of songs and an idea that was started by singer/guitarist Kris Alexander and guitarist Mark Bona. In their previous band, Cosmic Trigger, they wrote, recorded, and released a two song CD in the fall of 1997 to northeast college radio which charted and went into rotation at 45 for 8 weeks. Kris has studied with vocal coach Mark Baxtar, who also works with Aerosmith, Van Halen, Coal Chamber, and the Goo Goo Dolls. In the spring of 2000, Chooch, cousin to both Rob Zombie and Spider of Powerman5000 joined on as permanent bassist. Also, joining the band as permanent drummer came Jym Bagtaz, who had played with the members of Kitty Kill in his last band.

Stimulant toured through the South and the Great Lakes regions of the the U.S. through the spring and summer of 2000, and has established itself regionally by playing many shows in and around the Boston/New England area.

Stimulant is currently working on its first full length CD. |

Press Reviews
With their three-minute snippets of juicy and biting future-tense electro-rock, Stimulant are all about instant gratification. Herein, one finds more than slightly sexed and pleasingly mischievous vibe, particularly on "Velvatine", a song oozing with distorted nastiness. This is a band that has a very unique sound that could sufficiently light up just about any rock crowd. (Luke Pyles, Northeast Performer Magazine, May 2000)

Stimulant creates a crisp, retro, synth sound on this, their debut CD Underground. The band has a consistent sound through-out the CD with an enjoyable soundscape of alterna-goth where listeners can immerse themselves. From the addictive dirty groove of "Pleasure Fiend", where they sing, "Last night I saw another part of me/ it wanted more/ and it frightened me/ it consumes/ and it needs to feed/ its what I call the pleasure fiend". Their lyrics have a dark but somewhat sarcastic edge. That bodes well with the sound Stimulant is seeking. (Simon Cantlon, The Noise, March 2000) |
