Artist description
Section XVI (pronounced Section 16) is a Colorado based band. Founded in February 1999 by former members of power progressive metal band Psyco Drama, Section XVI combines the raw energy of seven string guitars, twelve string bass and haunting lead vocals backed by intricate drum techniques. In the band's own words "Each of us has different musical tastes and writing styles. Section XVI is a combination of all of the music that each member wants to play and write." The music ranges from the hard hitting style of Tool to the mellow/Santana style. From the gloomy Queensryche-ish to the In Your Face style of a band like Sevendust. "There is something here for everyone to sink their teeth into." The band has adopted a new attitude of playing the music they want to play. "If we decide to write a song that is just a straight-forward, nothing-but-heavy-chunk song then that's what we're going to do. At the same time if we want to write a song that is mellow or has a lot of intricate parts in the progressive style we're going to do that too. We allow each other the space to write like that. That is the best part of this band. That is what keeps it real for us." |

Artist History
Founded in February 1999 by former members of power progressive metal band Psyco Drama, Section XVI combines the raw energy of seven string guitars, twelve string bass and haunting lead vocals backed by intricate drum techniques. After Psyco Drama disbanded in late 1998, Corey Brown, Ian Ringler, and Toby Kinnaman were not ready to give up. The idea of continuing under the name Section XVI prompted the addition of former Psyco Drama guitarist Hercules Castro. The band was completed when drummer Jeremy Hoffman of Colorado Springs metal act Jaded Soul joined this talented line-up. Corey’s wide vocal range combined with Toby and Hercules’ hard hitting guitar grooves are paving the way for this up and coming band. With the addition of thunderous bass and drums which Ian and Jeremy provide, the band is described as sounding in the vain of King’s X, Seven Dust and Tool. Section XVI has begun pre-production of new material in the studio and is currently looking for a label that is willing to support their innovative style of song writing which consists of interesting melodies with serious groove. The group intends to begin where Psyco Drama left off by surpassing efforts which include the CDs "The Illusion" and "Bent", which gained extensive recognition throughout the world. Other plans include promoting their unique sound by continuing to open for the best national and international acts as they come through the region. |
