Artist History
The basement of Kentucky Wesleyan College gave birth to 'Sam Hill.' The band's first live performance in 1981 led to massive hemorrhaging. The audience's ears and the band's fingers bled. No one left. Their's is an American musical odyssey--the 'Punkin Party' riot in '92(fortunately no deaths), a T.V. appearance in Indianapolis in '93, the inevitable falling out and reconcilliation, and now radio play on WNKU in 2000. |

Press Reviews
Yes, yes, yes! May the spirit of Sam bless and keep thee. Naturally,Shithead is the one to lead with, inspired and oh so sweetly perverse. I'm also partial to Kissy Monster Man, lyrics I wish I had written. The Night is an alt-country gem with a wonderfully fucked-up "Neil Young" solo. And the Memphis boogie of Six Ways to Sunday (the absolute highlight of your guitar soloing career -- stunning) and Stax soul of Forever Was Yesterday may be my favorites, while the touches of pop psychedelia throughout -- especially Obligatory Love Song and Little Caroline -- make a nice sonic leit motif. And Shadows really reminds me of Iggy Pop's last few albums, very cool. |
