Artist History
Debuted in 1958 with the smash hit album 'Alma Juvenil' (and it's Venezuelan gold-record singles, 'Cuando No Se De Ti' & 'Ansiedad'), the first of 25 albums to date. Has won numerous awards and accolades over more than 40 years as a recording artist and live performer, including Best New Artist 1959 (Guaicaipuro de Oro, Venezuela), Best Artist 1966 (Guaicaipuro de Oro, Venezuela), Singer of the Year 1966 (Mara de Oro) & Most Popular Artist 1966 (Mara de Oro), as well as Best Pop Song in the 1966 Ibero-American Music Festival in Barcelona, Spain. Visited the U.S. in 1966 as a cultural representative of Venezuela and sang before then Vice-President Hubert Humphrey in addition to appearing nationwide on NBC television. Latest album is 1999's 'Orgullo De Ser Latino', available domestically in Venezuela from her longtime label, Palacio de la Musica and through her website. Famous as 'La Voz Mas Dulce de Venezuela' ('Venezuela's Sweetest Voice') in her native country. |
