Artist description
MOOT POINT by: Handsome Dave Kelly Moot Point are a seven piece ska band from the town of Topeka, KS. They consist of Brandon Barnett (vocals, guitar), Will Mansfield (electric bass), Nathan Bammes (guitar), Burnie Roy-Bachman (drums), Travis Mitchell (coronet), Kory Fay (trombone), and Justin Watts (alto sax). Barnett, Mansfield, and Bammes had attended a locally renowned private school together in Topeka. Like most students of Topeka-area private schools, they hated it. Their friendship all shared a common love of ska music and the city of Chicago. The three started jamming together their eighth grade year and later on during the summer the started going by the name Moot Point.By the time freshman year had rolled around, the three were itching to get the band started. They quickly found a drummer that was in Barnetts Honors Bio. class and, from there, recruited the horn section. The band claims influence from a number of bands, punk and ska alike, mostly from either the city of Chicago or bands on the indie-label Asian Man Records. They have a handful of gigs to their name and have completed a demo, titled The 1 and ½ Weeks Demo. The significance in this title is that the band had only been together as a full band for one and half week before recording it. |
