Artist description
Effigy formed from elements of San Fernando Valley’s burgeoning underground music scene in the 90’s. Rhythm guitarist Jessie Leon, founder of Effigy, has played as a folk and rock band performer. Lead singer Sam Payes has traveled the west cost as a student of the road and has written 2 books of poetry based on his journeys. Lead guitarist Freddy Rose studied music in San Diego while playing experimental music at coffeehouses. Mike Iovino, originally a guitar player, also played bass in various original pop-rock projects in the early 90s. Mauricio Pardo, artist by trade, took an interest in rock and jazz drumming some time ago. He and Leon had played before in a rock band called Rocket 88. Violinist Sarah Flug has performed traditional music throughout Europe while growing up. Effigy is a young band blossoming from many musical influences. The Effigy style has been described as melodic garage pop rock. |
