Artist description durtro is my name. i am a queer, HIV positive man. i create sound-experiments on the PC. i have recently had to label and quantify the audio-output, for purposes of this website. it ranges from outright textured-noise, sometimes shocking [alien soul-extraction device], to more subtle, ambient places ["genetic memories", "retribution, and forgiveness"]. there are many aspects to the sound, even techno ["genetic memories of other places"]. 99% of the time i use original samples that are created on the PC, using a variety of synthesiser and sequencer programs, as well as live digital recordings of ambient events. ICQ# 9431471 MORE TECHNICAL INFORMATION: initially, the sounds were created as a means for me to deal with physical pain wrought of a neurological disorder, a complication of HIV infection. i find that the hemi-synchronous sound, as it is processed by the bicameral mind perceives the difference in soundwaves between hemispheres, and that different cyclical soundwaves can stimulate certain effects like pain relief, endorphin production, etc. dig it? this is the theory that i work under...if you have physical pain you have nothing to lose by trying to listen to some of the earlier compositions, specifically 'brainscans' and 'genetic memories' and just about everything else i have done has incorporated this theory, musically. kindest regards, durtro
