Artist History
Chris Manasia received a Master of Arts degree in Clasical Composition from Hunter College (CUNY) in 1990. His instructors and mentors include Joseph Scianni and Myron Fink. He was honored in 1991 as a "Meet the Composer" award recipient for his composition for harpsichordist Ronald Cross entitled "Sonata for Two Harpsichords." His Master's thesis was a song cycle which set the poems of e.e. cummings to music. He received permission to use cummings' work from the poet's estate. Prior to this, Manasia had performed in various situations from the age of 12, playing electric bass, acoustic guitar, piano, synthesizer, flute, and voice. He began formally composing at age 18 and has done so ever since. Currently, he performs as a solo act, playing acoustic guitar and singing over tracks he has produced in his studio. He records all of his original compositions at his production facility, Baste In New York Productions. |
