Artist History HIMIG SAMBAYANIHAN has won the 1999 Katha Music Awards in the Philippines (Country Equivalent to US Grammy Awards) for Best Country Vocal Performer and Best Country Song. The winning song "Sa Tabi ng Pasig" (By the Pasig) from the works of the composers Dr. Tony and Cecille Roldan banners the album. On November 23, 2001 her powerful performance with Asia's Nightingale Lani Misalucha in Northshore Performing Arts Center in Skokie,Illinois was another big feather on her cap. Michelle played the lead role KIM in the smash hit Broadway musical MISS SAIGON in Stuttgart, Germany from 1996-1997. A total performer in various national conferences, including the Moral Recovery Summits of Former President Fidel Ramos, she has also been a perennial winner in many singing competitions like Tanghalan ng Kampeon Seven-week champion in 1994, and Second Runner-up in the Panasonic Quest for the Best Nationwide Competition in 1994. A versatile nightingale, she continues to mesmerize her audiences by singing in five star hotels in the Philippines like Manila Hotel, Grand Boulevard Hotel, Dusit Hotel Nikko and Makati Shangri-la Hotel. Her stint in lounge singing has indeed gone a long way. She also performed in Grand Hyatt Hotel and Ritz Carlton Hotel in Hong Kong. She's happily married to Lou Garthe and enjoys Scuba diving (PADI Certified), running, practising Taekwondo, hiking, skiing and outdoor cycling.
