Trinity Sound System offers up a demented version of Judy Garland’s "Over The Rainbow" as an introduction to his rather unique take on the drum’n’bass arena of sound. For that intro, it isn’t too far to stretch to imagine some comely, girl-next-door Hollywood actress crooning such a peaceful yet disturbingly left-of-center piece within the wild confines of a David Lynch film. And like that awesome, crack head auteur, Demonshaker keeps discomfort and a slight case of dread running strong in the undercurrents of his work. All the tracks contain vocals and lyrics that seem to come from the outer fringes of sanity and each track twists the traditional electronic sound into a juggernaut of genre mashing. The Goth’n’bass of "Lucid" (also appearing in an honestly insane "Sickbay Remix") is terrifying apocalyptic jungle stomping intensely alongside the haunting vocals of Chad Carper who croons miserably somewhere between Bauhaus and The Cure. And it works so damn well, too! Ultra-oddities get thrown into the mix with the high-as-a-kite "In The Clouds" (diluted industrial gold,) "Lunchbox Benny (2 Step Mix)" (hysterically silly white-boy hip-hop breaking alongside Demonshaker’s funky-as-hell beats) and the bouncy sci-fi trip-hop of "Waiting For Her" feels like its ready to burst with creepy and infectious giddiness. Most accurately, though, it’s the Demon one’s "666" that takes top honors on this wicked little ride. While churning the growling jungle out with break-neck accuracy a melancholy trumpet blares and a wailing voice moans in the background, thoroughly creeping the hell out of any normal listener that might stumble into this mouth of madness. While a demented sense of humor is absolutely essential for a good part of this ride (seriously, how else can one enjoy the sexual habits of the electro-dripping "88 Lines?") it may also be a cause for concern if you find yourself thoroughly enjoying this dementia.
