Artist description
And hooky, melody-driven rock is the main ingredient in Spill's self-titled 6-song EP. Hailing from Milwaukee,Wisconsin, Spill pulls its musical influences from such favorites as the Foo Fighters, Jellyfish, STP, Cheap Trickand Badfinger. In their short career, the group has played with The Beatifics, Creed, Victor Delorenzo, TheLackLoves, and SugarSmack. Named so because they find "the best songs just spill out of you," Spill started back in 1997. Formed by long timefriends Jack Rodee and Kirk Farber, Spill found its completion with the addition of guitarist Andrew Hintz andshortly thereafter with bassist Chad Solberg."They were a gift," Rodee says of the newer bandmates, as they were found relatively quick following the postingof the open spots, and both guys immediately fit in with the music and personalities of Spill. "They're amazinglymusical, and have really white teeth," says drummer Kirk Farber. Renting a warehouse space gave the guys a clean, well-lit place to work, and they created their self-titled 6 song EPwith the help of producer Mike Hoffman, whose worked with bands like Verve Pipe and Milwaukee's own VictorDeLorenzo. While they have received local radio support-playing live on Milwaukee's "Radio Chaos" WLUM 102.1, and gettingair time on WMSE 91.7FM, the band knows the importance of being heard nationally. So they'vebeen busy.In the past year alone, Spill has literally played coast to coast. From their midwestern home town of Milwaukee tothe west coast for L.A.'s International Pop Overthrow Festival and all the way to the east coast for Baltimore'sBaltipop Festival. So far, the response has been very positive. Says David Bash, director of LA's IPO Festival,"Milwaukee has a pop scene too, and Spill are one of the best bands in it." "We'd like to conquer the world, of course," adds Jack Rodee, "That's our main goal. And so is writing really goodsongs, playing them really well, and just having fun on stage. Now we just need a vehicle that can get us heard bymore people and I'm not talking about a new van to tour in." |
