MIKE FROM GUITAR MANIA SAYS-Swedish born guitar wizard Robert Marcello. He is an up and coming hot young player with technique and chops to die for. Robert's playing is reminiscent of Vinnie Moore and Joey Tafolla. He has strong melodic sensibilities and in my opinion can shred with the best!! Robert can go from slow melodic riff's to over the top blazing arpegiated run's with some ultra cool sweep picking thrown in for good measure. He has a controlled style and articulates each note played with clarity and definition. If you like instrumental guitar Robert is well worth checking out!!.................by John Erigo-Iron Horse/The Glorious ThingsVoodoo Lounge, Queens, NYOctober 7, 2000Wow, another full set! Ron and the boys really mixed it up. New tunes, old tunes and cover tunes. The shock of the night (songwise) was "Run For The Border" which I knew was from Marc Ferrari's (ex-Keel guitar player) album called GUEST LIST. The album was a bunch of friends making music and that song was written by Marc and ex-Black 'N Blue axeman (now Kiss tour manager) Tommy Thayer. Iron Horse's new material was a little more laid back than the Keel tunes, but damn they were good. I don't mean that they were mellow but it seems Ron has found a way to intertwine his rock and country roots without sounding soft or sounding like a bad Southern Rock band! It's original and I think it will catch people's ears. What will definitely catch EVERYONE'S attention is the brilliant guitar player in this band. I have seen them all and Robert Marcello is something special--you heard it hear first. Not to take anything away from the other band members in either band, but this guy just blew me away! Ron had mentioned all the great guitarists he's played with and the band even played a song ("Give Me All Your Love Tonight") from the awesome Saber Tiger album, PROJECT ONE, Ron did with Japanese guitarist Akihito Kinoshita. Throw in a nice drum solo by Italian born Gaetano and solid bass work from Geno and the chops were flyin'!All in all it was a great night. What made it more special is that it wasn't nostalgic. It was two guys that have made their mark in the business just continuing to go out and have fun making music with some very talented players. Both Jamie and Ron seemed happy and content with what they're doing and both bands played some cool NEW music. I have to also admit that hearing the two of them sing some metal gems also a treat! So, there's more to come from both Jamie St. James and Ron Keel. It just goes to show whether you're a VIOLENT KID or a ROCK AND ROLL OUTLAW, you can't keep a good rocker down!
