Artist History
After many years of fronting bands in the Vancouver music scene, Raj Krishna has successfully established a sound that he can call his own within Omnisight.
The singer/guitarist/songwriter has made himself a grand reputation in the local scene, prior to Omnisight he was with Kumar, a melodic pop-rock style band. Kumar went their own separate ways in early 1999, after the release of their independent CD “Speaking in Ones and Zeros”. After a strange twist of fate Raj met young drum prodigy Chris Warunki (also known for his highly praised past stickwork in Soulscar), and the making of Omnisight was well underway. Chris then recruited bassist Brent MacKenzie whom he knew from a previous band. Despite an age difference between Raj and his young rhythm section (Chris and Brent), they shared the same musical vision and passion.
The sounds emitting from Omnisight’s music are taken from each of the members’ own personal musical stylings, from Raj’s virtuoso guitar solos and charismatic vocals/lyrics, the manic and highly improvised drumming of Chris and Brent’s intriguingly clever bass grooves (played on fretless). Maintaining the level of ear-friendliness by effortlessly combining the hooks of pop with the expression of jazz and the aggression of metal is not an easy task, but when this progressive power trio is together, anything is possible. There is a large amount of artists, who could be credited for having an impact on Omnisight's sound. Some groups that have been mentioned and compared alongside Omnisight are Tool, Faith No More, Dream Theater, System of a Down, Deftones and Incubus. Despite the comparisons, Omnisight remain unique and in a league of their own.
The six tracks on the bands first demo clearly demonstrate Omnisight’s obvious potential. Tracks such as Breathe, Swallow, and Do I Have To all have enormous radio potential because of their clean song structures, highly memorable vocal melodies, universal lyrics, tight grooves and world-class musicianship. Omnisight has been playing shows in Vancouver, White Rock and Burnaby and are also working on new material. They have nearly 16 songs completed and after making a second demo (in 2002), they will be ready to record a promising full-length album. Omnisight is currently looking for proper management, and prospective record labels who will give them the exposure that they seek and deserve.
