Artist description
Katjar is an electric voyage of rythms where contemporary jazz blends with the warm melodic moods of theMiddle-East, along with flamenco flavours on guitar and the skins of African congas.Violin, guitar, percussions andvoice vibrate in rich sonorities emanating from a thought out musical score that is above all accessible. Each piece reveals a particular musical colour which subtly seduces the listener, whereby with each musicalcrescendo the listener embarks on a journey which opens the path to the universe known as Katjar. |

Press Reviews
En attendant...m , is a set of all originals in a style that blends elements of fusion, flamenco, and the Middle-East. It makes for a kind of world beat jazz lite, guitarist Al Di Meola's World Sinfonia meets violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. Jim Little, (Hour magazine). The reason why fusion jazz gets such a bad rap is because musicians get carried away with MIDI technology, and performances are often lighter than sponge cake. Fortunately, that is not the case for local act Katjar, whose disc serves as a reminder that one can be hip in jazz without playing bebop. Katjar' s album En attendant...m never becomes sel-indulgent. Mick Antoine, (Mirror magazine). |
