Artist History
The Human Instinct were among the first New Zealand bands to break out of the Kiwi mould and foot it alongside the best of British rock bands in the 60s. Their unique underground rock sound was rated alongside that of Hendrix and Pink Floyd. The band went through the transition from beat group to hard rock innovators changing their names from the Four Fours in 1966 to crack the London scene sharing the stage with the Rolling Stones, Small Faces and Jimi Hendrix. The band went through multiple line-up changes and recorded six albums – the first three remain highly sought after by LP collectors and now fetch hundreds of dollars. Recently those albums were released on CD and vinyl by Australia’s Ascension label. Now through a collaboration between band founder drummer and singer Maurice Greer and Revolver recording studios boss George Schouskoff the band is about to be resurrected. Maurice together with former bass player Neil Edwards, Hammond Gamble on guitar and Stuart Pierce on keyboards, ace guitarist Joel Haynes, Eddie Raynor on keyboard, members of Head Like A Hole (HLAH) and other guests have been working on the new Human Instinct album. The project is being kept under tight wraps until a release date is set in mid- 2000. Email: humaninstinct@xtra.co.nz |
