Artist History
Formed in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Furious Styles has been composing and performing together for a period of six years. During that time, Furious Styles has independently recorded and produced three albums, toured nationwide and performed with numerous national recording artists. With each of the five members of the band contributing their own unique style, the final product is an eclectic grouping of musical talents. The quintet consists of vocalists David Mehler and Justin Schram, guitarist Todd Kusmick, bassist Mike Bailey, and percussionist Damian Conseur. All members have combined years of private instruction to deliver the unique conglomerate of Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop, Reggae and Rock that is Furious Styles. Furious Styles currently performs live shows in venues such as New Jersey’s: Stone Pony, The Fast Lanes, The Melody Bar, The Birch Hill Nightclub and New York City’s CBGB’s, The Lion’s Den, The Elbow Room and The Hard Rock Cafe. While on tour, Furious Styles performed at 14 Below and The Velvet in California and La Iguana in Boulder, Colorado. With a growing fan base, and an increasing schedule of shows, the band is receiving increasing recognition from club owners and radio stations.Furious Styles has performed with Tommy Boy recording artists Everlast and Pimpadelic, Sony Records’ G. Love & Special Sauce and Fuel, Capitol Records’ Marcy’s Playground, Roadrunner Records’ Life of Agony, Kinetic/Reprise Records’ Shootyz Groove and Capricorn Records’ 2 Skinnee J’s. Furious Styles can be heard on WHTG 106.3FM, WRSU 88.7FM, WRAT 95.9FM, WMCX 88.9FM and WSOU 89.5FM. While on tour they were asked to do a live radio interview and performance with Señor Equis of San Diego State University Radio. In addition to this exposure, Furious Styles has also received numerous write-ups in such publications as The East Coast Rocker, The Aquarian, The Atlanticville, Jersey Style, The Asbury Park Press, The Star-Ledger, Jersey Beat Magazine, the Home News, GreenPrint, The Medium, and The Daily Targum. In 1997, Furious Styles recorded Design the Mind, a 12-track album showcasing a variety of musical genres including Rock, Funk, Hip-Hop and Pop. The independently released album contained the single ‘Catch the Wave,’ which received radio airplay from various radio stations and a nomination for “Song of the Year” at the Asbury Park Music Awards. The new millennium has already boasted Furious Styles’ third independent work, Destination: Insanity, a first place ranking in the Jersey Shore’s “Battle of the Bands” contest and a live interview and performance on WPST 97.5FM. In addition, Furious Styles’ song ‘Bounce’ is featured in a Showtime production of Bounce: Behind the Velvet Rope. At the moment Furious Styles is working on their fourth independent album and the production of their first music video.
