    Artist description
Edward V. Dick has been building and repairing stringed instruments since 1975. To date, he has built 246 instruments and repaired over 22,000. Though largely self taught, he spent a year of studying with historical instrument builder Robert Meadow in New York and Japanese tea house builder, Makoto Imoi. "The instruments themselves have been my teacher. By studying them and observing what works and what doesn't, I learn so much. By repairing them, I really get to see their innards. Musicians, too teach me a lot. They're a fussy breed, and rightfully so. By listening and responding to their needs, I get to continuously expand my knowledge of the mysteries of wood and sound." Born and raised in Canada, he worked out of Peterborough and Ottawa, Ontario until 1995. He then moved to Denver, Colorado where he now resides. In addition to his building studio on Pearl Street, he also operates a repair shop in The Olde Town Pickin' Parlor in Arvada.

"EVD guitars consistently demonstrate a magical blend of art, science, craft, and sheer beauty. They look good, they feel good, and they sound great!"Michael Engberg (recording artist, teacher, and award-winning songwriter) Denver, Colorado "Edward helped me make a dream come true. I now have a guitar that allows me to play for long periods of time while producing excellent concert quality sound."Vernon Fischer (classical guitarist) Charlottesville, Virginia "I played most of the well-known brands of high-end guitars before purchasing an EVD instrument. Edward's guitars not only sound wonderful but are extremely easy to play. Of the many guitars that I have owned, this is the first one that is intonated so that it actually sound 'in tune' to my ear."Greg Price Denver, Colorado "As a national television host, I have travelled all over Canada interviewing artists and craftsmen from all walks of life. I have examined the works of several instrument makers over the years, and I am quite aware of superior workmanship when I see it. Edward's work is superior!" Wayne Rostad (songwriter, guitarist, and host of CBC's ON THE ROAD AGAIN) Ottawa, Ontario "There are precious few people to whom I will entrust my instruments when they are in need of attention, and Edward is someone who has earned my total trust." Valdy (award-winning singer/songwriter) Salt Spring Island, British Columbia "Edward Dick designs wonderfully innovative instruments. His work is first class."Linda Manzer (luthier) Toronto, Ontario"I consider Edward's talents to be of the highest caliber available and I recommend him regularly to many other musicians both in Canada and the U.S." Charlie Major (award-winning Country musician and songwriter) Ottawa, Ontario "After 10 years of playing acoustic guitar, I have finally stopped coveting other people's guitars. I never want or need to guitar shop again." Alex Houghton (fingerstyle guitarist and recording artist) Ottawa, Ontario "I've been using my EVD guitar in my work at Lenz Entertainment for the last year. We do sound tracks for film and television. I consistently receive compliments from engineers, other players and our clients. They are impressed both with the sound of the instrument and its unique design features. I also use it to play live in just about every situation imaginable, and I'm always getting compliments about the way this guitar sounds. It's a thrill to play!" Douglas John Cameron (studio musician and performer) Toronto, Ontario
