    Press Reviews
"If 'take my mask and breathe' doesn't put Chore on the map as one of Canada's greatest treasures, than this country has no taste in music.  Man, this album is explosive." -Noel Dix, REVERB (Barrie, Ontario) || "If Chore's Take My Mask And Breathe could be described with one word, it would be menacing.  With it's second album, this Canadian foursome has created a sound of uncompromising aggression utilizing pounding guitar riffing, hollered vocals and a drum and bass combo capable of anchoring a battleship. Despite the sonic barrage, Chore does know how to inject melody and harmony into its raging mixes.  Although Take My Mask And Breathe can be singable, Chore's musical intensity is never lost.  Throughout, the band's menacing nature rings loud and clear." -Frank Valish, ROCKPILE (Philadelphia, PA) || "Fast, loud rock bands are a dime a dozen.  But the truly heavy bands - the ones that boast a subterranean thump that whacks your sternum like some demented medic using a sledgehammer to perform CPR - are harder to come by.  Meet Dunnville, Ont.'s Chore, a truly heavy band.  The secret ingredient?  Two, count 'em, two bassists anchoring the quartet's aggressively progressive metal, which ranges from minute-long Tool-like thrashers to grand, Rush-length epics." -Darryl Sterdan, WINNIPEG SUN || "This is way above average post-punk emo-ish kind of stuff with excellent production." -HECKLER Magazine (Sacramento, California) || "Chore is a four-piece, formed in 1995, that delivers solid rock with an alternative twist.  This isn't generic altrock, though.  These guys are intense, tight, aggressive rock.  The sound drives through you, moving your body against its will.  Pounding music surrounds vocals that create energized emotions..." -IMPACT PRESS (Orlando, Florida) || "...a better band by far, not just for having two years to refine their sound, but also for entering a real studio for the recording of Take.  The clearer, crispier, more layered sound recalls a synthesis of Soundgarden's more progressive work and the emotional metal of Quicksand." -Chris Gramlich, EXCLAIM (Toronto, ON) || "Chore's aggressive, occasionally atonal music and riveting stage presence is along the lines of Helmet...with a helping of Tool and Quicksand's brooding power thrown in for good measure."  -Debbie Bento, CHARTNET.COM || Chore has shared the stage with: Rheostatics, Blurtonia, I Mother Earth, Burning Airlines, Finger Eleven, Tristan Psionic, Buried Alive, Danko Jones, Thrush Hermit, Tricky Woo, Kittens, Shallow North Dakota, Primrods, among others...
