Artist History
Walt has written over 150 tunes in his adult life – "Most of them I wrote for what Willie Nelson called ‘The Store’ -- the music publishing houses on Music Row." Walt had the good fortune to come to Nashville in 1994 with a job as a staff writer at BMG, which allowed him to avoid the initial living-in-his-car-and-washing-dishes existence many hopeful writers and performers face.Walt’s talent led to cuts recorded by Ty Herndon ("Big Hopes," which is one of Walt’s favorites on this record) and Ricky Skaggs ("Seven Hillsides"), as well as a number of songs released by Texas favorite Pat Green. |

Group Members
For Fire, Honey and Angels, Walt assembled a top-notch band, including Rick Plant on guitar (he plays with Grammy-nominated Allison Moorer, too); Billy Block on drums (the Western Beat impresario has a TNN show in the works); Tim Lorsch on fiddle (The Kinleys, among others); Nick Pellegrino – who also co-produced several cuts on the record -- on bass (Wendy Wall, Don Henry); Mike Daly (the "Daly Lama" is a first-call player with Hank Williams Jr., Allison Moorer, and others) on steel guitar; and Naoise Sheridan (who wrote the first track on Fire Honey & Angels, "Mechanicsville") on guitar. The result is a strong collection of rich images and superb music, from the swing of "Don’t Make Me Do It" to the optimistic ballad "Big Hopes" to the joyful hootenanny romp "Dandelion." |
