Artist description
Think Pixies + Fugazi + Weezer from Gainesville, FL. There exists a group of people who still believe in something. It's not a message. It's not the thing to save your soul. It is simply the call to be honest about their life experiences… and it's catching listeners off guard. You can hear it in songs like "The Triumph and Tragedy of Being on Your Own", with it's poignagnt refrain: 'I don't know' being driven from the top of Loyal Frisby's earnest lungs. Loyal Frisby has recently captured their brand of last-minute, manic rock and roll energy at Inner Ear Studios with producer Don Zientara. Don is best known for his work with Fugazi, The Promise Ring, and Jets to Brazil, and. the band was excited to work with him. Some have compared Loyal Frisby to a re-born Pixies, the kind of original alternative rock and roll also made famous by fellow Southeasterners, R.E.M. It is material such as Loyal Frisby's second full-length, March 200's "The Escape", that has given this band its reputation for following in such footsteps. Their songs have since been sent rocketing to even higher peaks and more dynamic ranges. Recently the band has garnered comparisons to current indie rock bands such as Dismemberment Plan and The Get Up Kids. |

Artist History
Loyal Frisby started in 1993 with a boy and his dream. Throughout its first few years, the band’s membership fluctuated while Loyal Frisbie first projects toured regionally and included the CD release of Live From Your House. By 1996, membership changes found Loyal performing by himself… wearing his acoustic guitar and an angel costume. As you can imagine, he cut quite a memorable figure, quickly drawing attention to himself, and quickly gaining attention from bass player, Andy Dupree. Determined to push forward and promote themselves within the Gainesville music scene, Loyal Frisby recruited drummer Adam Lesko and has since immersed in an evolution noted by their quick development of a solid fan base within the Southeast’s best venues. And this evolution will see them join the other acts that have grown out of the Florida/Gainesville music scene as they continue to impress each listener. |

Press Reviews
Voted "Best Live Band" and "Best Overall" by the readers of The Independent Florida Alligator, the largest college newspaper in the country, August 1999."Live, the band shows off the strengths obvious in the recording (tight playing, memorable melodies and intriguing lyrics) and adds the energy hinted at earlier, as well as a more elusive quality—charisma. The band, especially Frisbie, is fascinating to watch." MOON Magazine, August 1998 by Jim Doherty |
