Artist History
Les Chumps unique blend of Stipean nasalities, Smithsish sarcasm and rockabillian finesse has been packing in audiences of at lease five per show since they formed as a result of a drunken dare in a tacky Scottsdale sports bar in 1990. Originally known as The Shakes, they spent a brief period in 1994 known as Miss Karen's Frozen Yogurt at the suggestion of New York record "producer" Joe Stinky Watkins. Realizing this name already existed to promote a well-received dairy product's large-breasted cover girl, they dropped the catchy name, amidst the quip from bassist Rusty Marlboro, "Aw, man! All the good ones are taken!" Their first full-length CD, "All The Good Ones Are Taken," (1994) was voted Best Unknown CD by someone, I'm sure of it, someone must have. Anyway, Les Chumps easily found their way onto the soundtrack of the indie film GREEN following the release of their second CD, "Sleep Is For Babies (And I Am Not a Baby)," and subsequent local hits "Simple Music for Difficult People," "Worst Bathroom in Peoria," and the title track "Sleep is For Babies (And I Am Not A Baby)." They are currently playing in and around Phoenix and Los Angeles, and currently working on their next outing, "Morrissey Isn't Gay, He's Just Sensitive." |
