Press Reviews
PILOT, the lastest CD from JBGS is out! Take a look at the CD review:James Bond Goes Surfing remains one of Ft. Wayne's most surprising bands, putting out music that overflows with attitude & guitar-driven modern rock sound but doesn't turn its back on melody & solid songwriting. PILOT is pleasingly diverse. The title track is an ode to an unhealthy relationship that's backed by ringing guitars. "Leslie Road" begins with sweet acoustic guitars before setting into a powerful, yet restrained, groove. It's followed with the hyperactive funk-rock of "Johnny". The band takes a loving poke at lounge jazz filtered through rockabilly on "Dean Martin". And, of course,JBGS wouldn't be JBGS without a lapse into the realm of punk, and on PILOT that happens on "1-900". Then they slip back into a slow, emotional triip on "Johnny Cappelli". The key to JBGS (although the whole band is one of the best in town) is irrepressible frontman J.R. Damnit. Both live & on record, J.R. catches your attention & keeps it. He certainly makes PILOT a pleasurable listening experience. |
