Artist History
Tolga Gürpinar was born in Istanbul in October 1979. He explored electronic music instruments for the first time at age 4, with a Chinese made, tiny electronic piano with rubber keys like the pocket calculators. At that time his father's favorite LPs were of Shadows, thus that was the favorite music of Tolga as well. At age 6 his uncle told him about synthesizers and made him listen to Jean Michel Jarre's 'Oxygene' for the first time. And at age 8 his father bought him his first electronic keyboard, a Casio, and he made his first composition. So far he studies music on his own and today he works on album projects, studies professional photography at Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul and composes for films. |

"The Story Of Iloyd" Notes: I'd like to present "The Story Of Iloyd" to all the children of the world, and the adults who feel proud of and keep alive the genuiness, lovingness, sincerety, creativity, braveness, curiousity and explorativity of their childhood. 'Thank you' to Diren, Sevil, Ekim, Ugur, Özgür, Isil, Ahu, Esin, Bengi, Deniz for being best friends of all times. To Björk & Jarre for having existed in the same period of time with me. And to the universe for being such big, to oxygen & water -you guess; to electricity for being such a harmless power resource; to cows for the milk; to my mind for consicous, my heart for love; to the oceans for being so deep; to soil for the crops; to Kellogg's for the Cornflakes; to Steinback for the 'East Of Eden'; to my childhood dreams for being so motivative for me to explore music; to orange and kiwi for the vitamin C; to Cary Guffey for acting in such spacy films; to USA's Golden Records for the fantastic "entertaining as well as educational" LPs; to Peyo for the Smurfs, to Charles Schulz for Snoopy & the Peanuts; to Spain for the chocolate & Manuel de Falla; to bees for the honey; to sun for being so hot; to my ears for being two; to stars for being a lot... And to all the children for being as they are. Tolga G. |
