Group Members
DARIN LAMPMAN, our all Canadian Eastern Ontario boy (hardcore hockey fan and everything), pictured on the left on the main page, plays guitar, bass, tambourine and some mandolin. Darin is also responsible for our extreme high and low end vocal harmonies. Darin has a long involvement in music stretching back to high school and has played various instruments such as keyboards and drums. He is also The River Drivers' chief songwriter. FRASER MACKENZIE, another Ottawa Valley boy, pictured in the middle of the main page photo, is The River Drivers’ bodhran, banjo and pennywhistle player. The majority of his family, including one parent are first generation Scottish immigrants and he consequently received an early introduction to Celtic music. Fraser is one of the band’s lead vocalists and tends to lead the band in learning the more traditional Irish and Scottish music. His various other musical interests range from Hendrix and Santana to the Eagles and Seal. DEREK WILSON is a fiddler of high degree from here in the Ottawa area. He follows a traditional Old Tyme Style of Canadian fiddling since he started at age 10. Derek has won over one hundred forty-five awards in various fiddle contests in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. He has composed 125 of his own tunes and can play and astounding 3000 tunes in total. He has also been seen on such TV shows as "Music of the Isles" and "On the Road Again with Wayne Ronstad" and his music can be heard on radio stations across the maritimes and in the Ottawa Valley. Derek currently has 2 albums " Redmud Hoedown" and "Spud Diggin' Ground"and 2 more coming soon " Live in PEI" and "Vocals and Strings" IAN BOYLE is the bassist of the band. He is known for his incredable bass line runs and musical knowledge. He also plays guitar very well, from rock to classical. Eventhough Ian is shy about his vocals, his low end voice supports the bands harmonies very well. Oh by the way ladies he is single..... |
