Artist History
It all started in '92 when Mac and Willis were in Willis' kitchen. They decided to start a band. The result was "The Studs". Their debut album was the home made masterpeice "Steel Soul". "Steel Soul" was followed by not-so-great albums such as "Right Side Up" and "Crippled Cloth". There were only 2 copies of this record ever created, so if you want a copy, you're outa luck. The Studs grew tired of their name and changed it to "The Genetics", a name suguested by the band's dear friend, Andrew "Hoss" Brown. With ther new name, The Genetics released an "anthlogy" of their crappy, ad-libbed music with addition musicians Simon Katz and Mac's next door neighbor, Geroge. In the early days of The Genetics, concerts at the San Antonio Country Club were common, so if you caught one of their shows, consider yourself lucky. In 1996 the band kicked out their main-tambourinist, Geroge, and gained their first ever drummer, Jordan Johns. The Genetics were finally a complete band. In 1997, The Genetics lost Simon and gained Chris Browning on guitar. They lost the name The Genetics and ended up with "Lounge Act". After that, they never had another steady name. In late 1997, Chris Browning quit (or they kicked him out. they're different stories floating around) and they once agian got a new guitar-player, Michael Barid. With a new sound and a great place to practice, they formed the controversial band, The Whiteboys. Because of being labeled a racist band after their 1st show, they change it to I Like Ike! were it stay the same name to this very day! |
