Artist History
Kevin and I had met within the confines of swimming. We had our differences in musical preferences, but had one goal in mind...music that the college student (such as us) could listen to within any situation. Meanwhile, Kevin had met Tim at a Fraternity party on campus who turned out to be living in the same building as the two of us. I had met Tim on several occasions only to find out that Tim thought Kevin was "One weird dude". Eventually, Tim and I got together to "Jam" one night. This was the beginning of a quick album. I suppose writing a theme album (yes this album has a theme even though it makes no sense) in one week was a bit quick for professional's sake, but we learned a lot from each other. Then there was Kevin...Wow...What a prize! But aside from his hyperactivity, he did turn out to be my second set of hands. You see, Kevin is not in the band because he wasn't there when we named the band...and furthermore, he liked to sleep more than was necessary. He (to this very day) isn't in the band, but when he is in the band, everyone and their brother will know because he will scream in glee..." finally....damn it!". He took a lot of crap, but no more than Tim or I. You see, he put us through loops that we never thought were imaginable. He liked to leave special sounds in the songs where we didn't intend there to be. If you would like an example, listen to track 3 on Drop the Time...at the end you will here some busted drum sounds that were irreversible...Courtesy of (You know who). I simply try to ignore it, but it is there to be digitally reproduced for at least 100 years (the life expectancy of a digital recording). Enough with Kevin...and on to the recording process. If you want to know the key problem and the key solution to our album, the answer is the same in both departments...Otis. Otis is an unruly 16 Track Mackie I/O Board that we had more than our share of problems with. But what do you expect with broken ADAT machines. We then compromised with the DAT and Computer crap that we rigged into. For our second album, 2 computers and an Alesis mixer is the key. We also invested in an Alesis Nanoverb Multieffects. A bunch more wires will do the trick. SAWPlus is now our only key. We will do some work with the Alesis ADAT machines. Those things suck as of now. Tim is currently in the army after many unfulfilled obligations with the machine and the system. I for one am affected by this most of all. He sent me a tape of potential songs for the new album "Animated Still-Life". If I can say so myself, the kid is a genius. Some of the songs are just awesome. There isn't much of a choice of words to describe them. Tim is my alter-ego. Some people can see the faultiness of me: they are also Tim's. Some people see the faultiness of Tim, they are also mine. Talk about wave-length. He currently contacts me once a week from military training, but not as often as I would like him to. Look for songs called "Sincere Thanks", "Trust & Fall", and "Pondation of Life". These are my personal favorites that say the most about Tim to me. |
