    Artist History
Danny Winn has lived in New Mexico all his life and began playing drums at age sixteen. He was in various bands during high school but he didn't really become a serious skilled musician until he and twins Jeff and Greg burns formed the band New Century. This band was a blend of reggae and rock music similar to the early style of The Police. The band was together for about three years then called it quits only after becoming a regular act at the famous Fat Chance Bar and Grille (RIP) in Albuquerque NM. Danny was in several other bands that never really went anywhere, however the last band he was in, called Mettro,(formed by longtime friend Jeff mettling) challenged Danny to play all the songs with a click track and sequences, and sing back-up vocals in every song (Mettro was a Euro-pop sounding band). While in this band the group went to a No Doubt concert where they saw the opening act local group Giant Steps (a ska band). Danny was already a No Doubt fan as well as a reggae music fan but had never really seen ska performed live on stage. "It was like hyped up reggae on speed". After the break up of the band Mettro in the winter of 1998, Danny focused all his energy into writing original ska influenced songs. Danny had begun playing the bass guitar shortly after the break up of New Century (early-mid 90's) and recently began learning the electric guitar in July of 1999 allowing him to record all instruments and vocals for this current project "Danny Winn and the Earthlings". After winning several awards from the "New Mexico Music Industry Coalition" and many missed opportunities to perform live events, Danny began forming a live band In August 2001 to be able to perform before an ever growing local fan base.

    Press Reviews
The following review comes from the hugely popular Albuquerque DJ "Adam 12" from The Edge radio station 104.7 (Adam begins)......... So I get this package in the mail the other day. It's the latest disc from Danny Winn and the Earthlings--"Band From Earth." With the cd I find a note asking me to give it a review. Cool. I bust open the jewell case to find a picture of "the band"--3 doctored pictures of Danny. Danny in shades,Danny with a spike, just plain Danny. I think to myself "allright, this Danny obviously thinks he's a comedian." I pop in the cd and soon find that Danny is not a comedian--he's just having fun."Band From Earth" is the product of one man (in case you haven't figured it out yet, Danny Winn IS the Earthlings) who's been making music for a decade and a half. He writes his own songs, plays his own instruments, and produces it all from the comfort of his own home. And has a goddamned blast doing it. The opening track is evidence enough; "Goin' Bald" jumps out of your speakers with it's upbeat tempo, bouncing ska guitar, and Danny lamenting his waning hair line. "Thanks to You" pops up next, and you start to see that, not only does Danny have ska down pat, but he writes some damn catchy tunes as well. That's part of the reason why the next track blows your mind. Danny's cover of Toto's "Africa" (coming soon to the Dam CD) is downright brilliant. He makes Toto and ska work like chocolate and peanut butter--not an easy task to accomplish. Other stand-out tracks include "Low Self Esteem" and "Gonna Make Her Mine," but it's important to note that "Band From Earth" works as a whole disc. I smiled, chuckled, and laughed the whole way through. And you will too. Adam 12
