Artist History
After several years of playing bass in various Boston bands and a short stint in Japan acting in commercials, it became glowingly apparent that it was time for Mr. Brouillet to step up front and plan a recipe to satisfy a flammable soul. |

Press Reviews
Nathan Brouillet is NOT the devil, but his music, a sort of Weezer meets Elvis Costello, is catchy as hell, and may cause a God fearin’ man to question his commitment to the Church. Creme Brulee’s self titled debut is the kind of record you listen to over and over again. It’s melodic pop, with more hooks than the Andrea Gail’s longline and plenty of 50’s pizazz. Organ, synth and the occasional glocenschpiel give the record some texture. But is Brouillet’s vocal delivery that brings the record home: Soulful, honest, utterly confident, like Elvis Costello doing Joe Strummer. And the production is spectacular, given that it was recorded in one friend’s rehearsal space and another friend’s apartment. Creme Brulee is about Nathan Brouillet, his songs, his vision, his union. But it works because the man in charge has the charisma to get it done. Nathan Brouilett is an entertainer. Sitting across a table from him, decked out in a suit shirt with creases like razor blades and black rimmed shades with blue lenses, smiling contagiously, this "Mr GQ" has rock star written all over him. "Creme Brulee is sort of my rock alter ego, but most people that know me say they are one in the same so I guess I’m a hundred percent rock. I’ll take it!" You get the sense from Brouillet that he does it his way because he knows he’s got something. He’s right. For anyone looking to join a real working band, and is ready to do some sweating for the sake of rock and roll, hitch your cart to Nathan Brouillet’ horse. If you do, you just may be riding to the rock and roll promise land. Leave your reon in church and show your union card at the door. "Northeast Performer" August 2000 |
