Artist description
Captain Paradox is an eclectic blend of many musical styles, ranging from ass kicking Rockabilly, like the always crowd pleasing "Lou," to the smooth, moody (or smoody) and lusciously lyricless "Glowfish."The Captain can take you from the solidly-rooted-in-folk, "Park Bench," out back to the psychedelic rock melange of "God’s Eye," around the corner to the strange and jazzy "The Psychic Song," then back up front for the unique Folk/Country/Pop/Rock of "Sometimes" (another big crowd pleaser).Captain Paradox’s music is lyrically rich in imagery, sometimes poignant, sometimes amusing, sometimes devastating. Aurally alternating between simple, straight forwardness and sonic lushness, Captain paradox is full of surprises while remaining strangely familiar. |

Press Reviews
"He is very talented." Adams Mother Reviews of Captain Paradox by Other MP3.COM Artists SOMETIMES-- From Mark Hewer,Windsor, Ontario, Canada This song is nothing short of a masterpiece, a true classic in every sense. Right from the get-go, the drums are dynamic, tight and set the stage for the rest of the song. Your vocal performance is sheer genius, loaded with emotion and the lyrics fit perfectly with the music, right through the entire song. The whole band really gels together on this song, and the chord changes are out of this world. I'm not kidding, and I'm not sugarcoating, 'cause I listened 3 times in a row and it just gets better every time I hear it, noticing something new each time. This is my definition of a true MASTERPIECE!!!!! From TK Major, of One Blue Nine, Long Beach, CA "over-the-top" new-wave singing you do it quite well, nice flexibility as you swoop up and down -- good pitch and control and your vocal gymnastics are emotive rather than showy (and that's good in my book). You can definitely hear a lot of your influences but I don't think any one of them has left a killer mark on you (and that's good.) I do hear a lot of Adrian Belew style pop there in the singing and guitar. GODS EYE-- From DennyG, of Mere Imagery, Chillicothe, IL ... I like this! I like the harmony and the way the "trembling wah" is emulated by the whole vibe of the song. Then comes the break and the song gets quieter ... and even cooler ... this is really different! Nice work! I'm going to go back and download some more! From Saint James Wood, of The Saint James Catastrophe, in San Diego, CA Holy Cow!this a truly frightening psychedelic songwith the truly off/outer space noises and the graceful strings trying to overcome the chaos,... Oh yeah, this song is good. From Father Time, Walmartville, PA Being a lover of psychedelic music, I listened to God's Eye, and man, I was pleasantly surprised. Good writing all around, it was a legitimate psychedelic song, very cool. THE PSYCHIC SONG-- From Saint James Wood, of The Saint James Catastrophe, in San Diego, CA a song the likes of which you rarely find out here in MP3dom I also found the lyrics to be funny, inspirational and downright craftsmanlike. The troll under the bridge vocals added a dimension to the song I smiled at each time they started up. If I can sample them somehow I will and you have no one to blame but yourself for having too many excellent touches that people like me can't keep their hands off. From Zeeza, of Luskville, Ottawa Valley, Quebec, Canada Love the interesting dissonance with the guitar at the start, my kind of stuff!! Love it. The music just happens... its all over the place and it feels good. Your sweet voice just penetrates my mind. Love those lyrics. You're such a smart guy you are a true subgenius maniac... yes this song tickles a lot. I love it. My god you have a way with lyrics, I love it. From Carter, of Torn, Grand Rapids, MI ... This is a freakin' cool song. I like the weird chick making whacked noises in the background. This song makes me think of a twisted carnival with a killer clown. GLOWFISH-- From Saint James Wood, of The Saint James Catastrophe, in San Diego, CA The intro is as psychedelic as anything The Beatles or Ultimate Spinach ever dreamed of in their wildest LSD induced musical odyssey and I'm glad to go along for the ride, beautiful. LOU-- From David Lloyd, of Meltwater, Cardiff, Wales Stonking, grinding guitars reminiscent of anything from Ministry to Motorhead, tempered with a jaunty banjo, hyper country back melody. Screeching vocals suit this tale of the backwards Forrest Gump. Full tilt boogie, foot stomping goodness and quite frankly I'm jealous. This will be at the ready on my hard drive for a long time to come. Top marks. Cuts like a bucket full of razors on a windy day. PARK BENCH-- From Scott Hernandez, Maui, HawaiiYeeeeeee Haaaa.... the good ol' boyz getting the groove on! Like the hook, "I had a dream with my eyes wide open". Real me in like a lost and starving fish. Fun song with pure, acoustic sound and pure soul. This song ought to be licensed for a Budweiser commercial. |
