Artist description
The moonscan material stemmed from my interest in fractals, biology, and various mathematical systems. There are a lot of interesting directions to go in these days,as far as 'generative' music goes. I experimented with a variety of the software available for making music out of chaos related processes. Because I really admired the 'natural' properties of chaotic systems, it was a natural progression to develop software that would read pictures of natural pattern ( photos ), and convert them into music. The music is guided by the composer in a variety of ways, and strongly reflects the organic nature of the source images. The next natural step was to compose musical scores out of image fragments, or digital paintings. This is quite pa paradigm shift from traditional scoring. Composing this way allows one to deal directly in the domains of time and texture directly. The third component of this softeare allows one to process and replicate image fragments based on musical terms. |
