Artist History
The SHAH is an energetic Latin/Ska/Rock group that interactively entertains by featuring infectious rhythms accented by powerful horns and percussion instruments. Though from Houston, Texas, their original Spanish/ English compilations create a unique flavor combining a blend of Spanish Alternative Rock with Ska, Reggae, Funk, and Punk seasonings.
Their popularity has gained momentum since their beginnings as a two piece band, prior to the summer of 1999. Now, the stage is comprised of everything from brass horns, percussion, drums, guitars, keyboards, and male/ female vocals.
The SHAH plays at a number of music venues, resorts, nightclubs, and restaurants filled with fans and word-of-mouth followers. Their music is known from Mexico to Illinois--from Florida to California.
The SHAH composers are:
Gabriel—Lead vocals, rhythm guitar
Israel—Lead guitar, vocal
Mark—Drums, Percussion
Mauro—Percussion
Tino—Bass Guitar, Vocals
Aaron—Trumpet
Kurt—Trombone
Chila—Vocals, Percussion
And frequently, other special guest musicians will surprise the crowd by joining “the energy” for various performances.
“The Mystery of The SHAH”—Anonymous Fan 2001
Most bands have a story to tell regarding the name of the band, but what about The SHAH? Evidently, no one knows except the band. They get asked at shows and for interviews, but they maintain their secrecy. For example according to one interview given to a local television station in 2000, I heard them say that the story behind the name was really quite simple and humorous, but that the derivation would remain a secret for now. So until this Latin/Ska/Rock show band divulges their secret, I will continue to be a devoted, curious fan.
