Artist History
In 2001, Sexfresh played showcases in both South by Southwest Music Festival and Nadine’s Wild Weekend Music Festival, and received critical praise from the Austin Chronicle’s SXSW coverage. In October, songwriters Emily Zuzik and Ben Ratliff embarked on an acoustic tour of the Southwest. They holed up outside Austin TX to record and play in Austin, then finally completed their cross-country trek to Brooklyn, NY, where they continue to play music, make happenings and perform several costume changes throughout an evening.
Formed after a singer-songwriter showcase in January 2000, the band is a collaboration of musicians from established Bay Area groups, including Steak, Funkmobile and the Wammie Award-winning Shitty Shitty Band Band.
As featured on Alice Artist Spotlight on 97.3 FM in San Francisco, Sexfresh has also played on a number of radio shows including KUSF’s “Radio Segue”, KITS Live 105's "Local Lounge" and Listen.com’s Best of the Bay station on Rhapsody.

Press Reviews
“The five-piece outfit artfully blends folk and blues for melodic pop twist. Think Cowboy Junkies with a black streak. A moody little number, Try a New Line on Me, is our pick.”
--ZDTV, “Internet Tonight”, Download of the Day
“Like the space outside airplanes, the place between happiness and sadness, the center of what is empty but full, sexfresh is all of these. While a “trip-hop” band, there is a mix of funk, blues, rhythm, and a bit of pop beats and lyrics equivalent to fellow SF artist Barbara Manning”
--Localmusic.com
“If the TV show ‘La Femme Nikita’ took itself slightly less seriously - and were a romance - this could be its soundtrack. With their first album, Sexfresh combines jazz, blues, urban folk and a dash of George Harrison-esque psychedelia into a unique sound that goes beyond pop but remains accessible.”
