Artist History
Octavius first played music in 1993 in a garage in Tarzana, CA in Los Angeles with the Rev. Mathew A. Carey. They experiemented with noise core, following in the footsteps of Throbbing Gristle and PIL. The quickly became a college radio success locally with their band "Chewing Foil". The band consisted of Octavius on a detuned guitar, playing along to records which had been scratched with razor blades, while the Rev. Carey howled at the crowd to fuck off. After one year of playing in Los Angeles, Octavius finally bought a four track and began recording for his solo album "Jack of all trades, Master of None". By now he had accidentally learned how to play most of the basic chords. During this time he also recorded with Mitch Chichoki in "The Magnetist" and currently plays guitar in the band "Artichoke". "Artichoke" is the current project where you will usually find Octavius, though he occasionally appears with the REv. Carey as Chewing Foil about twice a year. Currently, you may hear an Octavius song on the Radio in Los Angeles on KXLU on a random Friday night. |
